On behalf of of the entire staff it is my pleasure to welcome you to Halstead Middle School, home of the Dragons. We are excited for the 2017-2018 school year and hope you and your students are too! Halstead Middle School strives to engage students in continuous improvement to develop successful learners in a safe and caring environment. The staff at Halstead Middle School is committed to teaching with a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of our students. We also believe that establishing positive connections with students is vital to the academic and emotional success of each one of our students. Halstead Middle School is also committed to providing an environment of trust where all students feel accepted and worthy. When students leave HMS we want them to value effort and persistence and continue to be lifelong learners.
As we make our way through the school year, I hope that you will take the opportunity to get involved with your students education. Feel free to participate in our Middle School PTO, attend athletic events, watch our students perform in their annual concerts and attend parent teacher conferences. These are just a few of the opportunities that parents can get involved with throughout the school year. Make sure that you follow us on Facebook to not only know about upcoming events, but also see what is going on in and around the school. Communicate with your student and ask how there school year is going, but also communicate with teachers so that you understand how your student is progressing in their cognitive and social development. In my educational experience, I have found that students have the greatest opportunity to succeed when all stakeholders get involved in their education.
If you ever have any questions, please feel free to contact us via phone or email. We hope that you and your students have a wonderful school year at HMS! Best Wishes
