"Once A Dragon, Always A Dragon"
On behalf of the faculty and staff of Halstead Middle School, home of the Dragons, welcome you to our website. As the 2020-2021 school year begins it brings with it an element of the unknown and the excitement of a school year with new experiences! Working together to empower all students is the vision statement for our HMS as it works together with the district vision of engaging students in continuous improvement to develop successful learners in a safe and caring environment. Our Gemini II launch was successful and we will continue to focus in the four areas of project-based learning, social-emotional learning, career exploration and STEAM. Within these areas our staff will work to meet the diverse needs of our students and establish positive connections with our students, families, and community, along with providing academic rigor and emotional support to prepare our students for their next steps. Halstead Middle School core values will guide our efforts for when students leave HMS, we want them to continue on a successful path of lifelong learning.
I strongly encourage each of you to take the opportunity to get involved with our students' educational process. Please consider active participation in the HMS PTO organization, support athletic events, and enjoy the performance of concerts, participate in parent-teacher conferences, and engage in the many events hosted at the school throughout this year. Our Facebook account will be used to share with you upcoming events and happenings around the school. I encourage you to communicate with your student about their learning and make contact with the teachers for the understanding of how your student is progressing throughout the year. I have encouraged our faculty to be present, be proactive, be prepared, be respectful, and be resourceful as we experience the elements of redesign within our school. I would extend that same encouragement to our parents and community.
If you ever have any questions, please feel free to contact us via phone or email. We hope that each of you experience HMS in a fantastic way!
